First Baptist Church was founded in 1947 when a group of folks decided it was time that Rangely, Colorado had a Baptist Church. The town had just been incorporated and the nation’s need for oil meant jobs galore.
The building was built out of adobe brick, the blocks made on site with Rangely clay and hay. The original building was like a long barn. Over the years little additions and remodels have meant enough classrooms and space to get the job done.
And what is the job? What’s our purpose? To know Him and to make Him known. That’s Jesus Christ.
Straight from the mandates of scripture, we are about evangelism and discipleship. We’re not great at either one but at least we know our reason for being.
